Tesla vs lovecraft eldritch signs5/3/2023 ![]() ![]() It has all the action you expect from the genre, and the short levels make it moreish. Even with all its shortcomings, Tesla vs Lovecraft is a fun experience. I spent at least a couple of hours going through this pointless grind, playing the beginning of the same level again and again until I had my upgrades where I liked them, and then moving on to finish the game. Long story short, you probably need to farm crystals if you want to complete the game. You'd take forever to accumulate a decent amount of crystals through regular playing–and collecting crystals usually gets in the way of completing a level. Once you get to the third and last pass of levels, you find yourself short on "crystals", the in-game currency that you use for upgrades. ![]() The worst problem of the game, by far, is the poorly tuned upgrade system. The existence of that stat should ring an alarm bell–but it seems that this game is OK with being heavily RNG-based. ![]() There is even an upgradeable stat that makes it more likely that you'll get one of the good perks that make levels so much easier. The role of luck is excessive, and the same level can be very easy or painfully hard, depending on which power-ups you get. The game's difficulty swerves wildly, with frustrating peaks followed by walk-in-the-park levels. The lack of content can be forgiven, but the design flaws of Tesla vs Lovecraft are harder to swallow–especially if you consider that the developers are twin-stick shooter specialists. To reach the "real" ending, expect to fight the same handful of monsters over and over again, and to go through the same maps three times at increasing difficulty. The game has very little content, stretched really thin to dilute the play time. However, it also comes with its own share of flaws. Tesla vs Lovecraft has all the mindless monster bashing that you expect. What happens if you pit the champion of scientific optimism against the herald of cosmic horror? If you're a fan of Tesla OR Lovecraft, you might find this an enjoyable gaming experience. The graphics aren't really much to write home about, but the game never slows, there are virtually no load times, it's still pretty (decent lighting, too), and I think it captures the atmosphere it's reaching for. You might find it a bit unfair if you're just trying to level up to a kind of god mode, but it gives the title a bit of extra flexibility. At first, you might assume the power ups are limited, but with each level beaten, you unlock new potential skills, and your experience level resets after completing each stage. But if you're looking for a greater challenge, there is a kind of gauntlet mode, where creeps just spawn until you're dead. The levels are limited in size, so you can't just run away, and the difficulty curve is gently sloping. Genre hallmarks such as a large arsenal of weapons, a multitude of player empowering perks, monster crushing powerups, and secondary weapon abilities are also included. Rail service is infrequent with short trains every other week or so. The line is owned by Union Pacific Railroad (whose tagline is “ Building America” – they should add “ and not wrecking it“) and it’s really just one long lead that serves a single industry located at the very north end. I have family members who reside in Torrance and they live on a divided street that has an active rail line that traverses the median. Our unfortunate victim appears to be a Custom version. And of course, being the halcyon year of 1969, there was an SS396 performance variant which was an option package for the Custom trim level. First up was the Standard, which aligned with the Chevelle 300/Deluxe and it was followed by the Custom which was the Camino version of the Chevelle Malibu. Based on the A-body intermediate Chevelle and chassis, a 116″ wheelbase station wagon platform to be exact, the El Camino came in three different trim levels that year. ![]() ![]() Credit has to go to Ford for developing the concept first, known as the Ranchero and introduced in ’57, but Chevrolet stuck with it longer and it proved to be a popular component of their very commanding 1960s line-up – ’69 El Camino production exceeded 48K units. So, sit back, and I’ll tell you about the travails of a Chevy ute that used to call Torrance, California its home.Ĭhevrolet’s El Camino (’59-’60 and ’64-’87) filled a niche for those that wanted car-like driving dynamics but needed the functionality of a pickup truck. Unfortunately, it’s not unheard of – it’s the stuff of legend and stories. To have a cherished vehicle survive for 54 years and then one chowder-headed move evaporates it in the blink of an eye is an unfortunate and needless event. ![]() This is a sad tale, a tale of an old car, an everyday driver, and an owner’s enthusiasm for it on one hand and big corporation stupidity and carelessness on the other. Buyers who wanted more power could opt for a V8.Ībout 48,000 1969 Chevrolet El Caminos were produced. If a palm tree falls in southern California and no one hears it, does it make a sound? All ’69 El Camino base models featured a Chevrolet script emblem on the header panel, front side marker engine call outs, rear side marker lamps, rear El Camino emblems, and bright windshield moldings.ġ969 El Camino Customs featured bright window frames, bed moldings, tailgate moldings, bright rear window moldings, bright lower body moldings, and silver anodized lower body finish. The 1969 El Camino trim was available in three levels including the base model El Camino, the El Camino Custom and the El Camino SS396. The SS396 was made back into an option instead of a separate model, and a new 396 big block engine with 375 horsepower was added to the lineup. The reverse lamps were also moved into the tailgate and red reflectors filled up the rear bumper indentations. A new finned grille decorated with three horizontal chrome moldings. The 1969 El Camino received only a minor facelift from the previous model year. Reef manta ray5/3/2023 ![]() The largest accurately measured giant manta ray was 670 cm disc width (wing tip-to-wing tip) but they are reported to reach 910 cm disc width. Reef and giant mantas regularly use cleaner stations on coral reefs where reef fishes like damsel and butterfly fishes pick these parasites off them. ![]() Manta rays are host to a variety of external parasites. The reason manta rays do this is unknown, but it may be to remove parasites or sucker fish (remora). Manta rays sometimes jump out of the water. Size at birth is 122-190 cm disc width, and we suspect gestation to be over a year. Life historyįemale manta rays give birth to single pups. They often swim in repeated backward loops or ‘somersaults’ to remain in a dense patch of plankton. These filter plates are attached to the arches of their gills. Giant manta rays trap zooplankton on their distinctive filter plates and periodically swallow. To eat, they use the large fins on either side of their head to funnel water containing these tiny organisms into their mouths. Little is known of the diet of giant manta rays in New Zealand, although they are often seen feeding on dense patches of zooplankton. Very little is known of manta ray movements and habitat use in New Zealand, although the lack of sightings during winter suggests they move offshore, possibly to the north of New Zealand at that time. The distribution of reported sightings off the northeast coast closely matches the course of the East Auckland Current. It’s been recorded off east and west coasts of the upper North Island, mainly from spring to early autumn. The giant manta is the only manta ray recorded from New Zealand. More recent research suggests there is a third species in the Northwest Atlantic. However, in 2009 two species were recognised: the giant or oceanic manta, and the reef manta.īoth species are globally distributed. Researchers once thought there was only a single globally distributed species of manta ray. Although they spend most of their time swimming, they sometimes rest on the bottom. They live in shallow water close to shore and in the open ocean. Manta rays occur in open water, in tropical and some warm temperate regions of the world. More about this species Range and habitat Several species of devil ray have a white tip to the dorsal fin, whereas the manta ray’s dorsal fin is all black.
